……that the day after posting the ‘lion’ blog highlighting the difference between earthly and heavenly perspectives, the most powerful church leader from an earthly point of view was elected by men., ….and that he took the name LEO i.e. the lion.

From heaven’s standpoint the most powerful ones on earth are that company of those A – LION – ED with ‘the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.’

We just watched the first episode of The House of David on Netflix. It illustrates well ‘ the champions’ who like David have ‘ a heart after God’ (Acts 13:22) that He is training and raising up to destroy His enemies, and to rule and reign with him on the earth.

It is indeed now the time for them to ‘Come Forth !’

I recorded this, one morning in Dunfanaghy, Donegal. Inspired by the beautifully evocative Irish movie, That They May Face the Rising Sun, I had walked eastwards along the backroad above the town. There I discovered an old graveyard. Indeed the graves were laid out correctly…….facing the east in anticipation of the resurrection!

Next to this ‘proper’ graveyard however, I discovered the ‘pauper’s’ graveyard with the following sign.

I found the song rising up in me,

A song for the pauper. A song for the queen.

For those trying to make ends meet in between

A song about riches that are way out of sight.

So we’ll sing it with all of our might.

So when I paused a few minutes later to listen to the birds rendering their dawn chorus, you can understand why this was the song that I joined in with…..

Bathed in heaven born of the earth.

What would you do if I said, “Sing along!

Sing along now for all that you’re worth.” ‘

On returning home, I was greeted with the sad news that our dear friend and brother Bill Millar, had just that morning, crossed over to join the heavenly choir!

On our last few visits home to Ireland we had been lead to join with Bill and the Millar family to worship in the early morning. It had been an outdoor/rural setting. We had been given the name Dawn Chorus for the gathering as we joined with all of creation to welcome this ‘new day’

The song “Yeshua” was recorded on the Trek album. The Reprise at the end of the album had a beautiful guitar accompaniment by the late Tim Lyles……. just honored in my last blog!

It speaks of this song being for ‘the pauper’ and also contains the verse,

A song for the boy always bottom of class

A song for the girl we always picked last

A song that can make us ALL winners tonight

So we’ll sing it with all of our might.

This was that same weekend that our own Rory McIlroy completed his Grand Slam Victory. This photo of ‘the Victor’ roaring (like the lion of the tribe of Judah) reflects his nickname Rors

In the photo below of Bill holding granddaughter Isabella he is wearing a ‘lion’ shirt with The King written on the sleeve!

Maureen wrote,

“The T‐shirt  Bill was wearing when he passed over depicted a huge lion’s head. It reminded me of Aslan.”

That was also the same weekend our son Ben released on line his new album, with one of my songs that goes,…

‘You came to me. You wrote my life’s first page

And you were there when I stepped out

To act on this world’s stage’.

Bill’s role may not have been that of a winner like Rory on ‘this world’s stage’, but he sure was a winner from heaven’s vantage point!

(Interesting how with my tech limitations Bill’s picture popped up smaller (more humble?) than all the others I used🙂)

Bill and Maureen shared the hope that we could ALL be winners in God’s Masterpiece and that God will indeed, as he hasn promised, restore ALL things.

This was why to the pastor’s surprise Maureen requested Psalm 67 to be read at the funeral service.

‘ I have never preached from this psalm nor ever read it at a funeral before!!’ He confessed to the gathered family and friends.

“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us— so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you. May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples with equity and guide the nations of the earth. May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you. The land yields its harvest; God, our God, blesses us. May God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.”

As Bill’s coffin was carried down the aisle the words and music rang out once again…

“Yeshua, Yeshua, Yeshua the song

……..and we’ll sing it for all that we’re worth! ‘

We crossed the Atlantic ocean in 1994 and in the following few years traversed the American continent discovering and befriending our new homeland and its citizens.

Father continued to give me new songs journaling our journey of Ad-venture across the sea and into this ‘New World’

Having left behind in Belfast the gifted brothers and sisters who had produced the Come Lord Jesus, Good Mornin’ Dad and O Ireland albums I wondered if these new songs would ever get recorded for posterity.

Then one Sunday afternoon at St. Brendan’s Launch in Kieran’s Irish pub I met Tim Lyles.

We got chatting and I discovered he was a guitar teacher, a mean bass guitarist himself, and that on the side he also did some recording work.

‘Sure, I’d be up for helping you’ He said as I outlined The Bright Hostage project I had envisioned. Subsequently Tim magnanimously produced the first two albums of the Trilogy, The Voyage and The Trek of the Bright Hostage.

Arriving in Belfast a few weeks ago I learned of Tim’s death.

He had written a piece to be posted on FaceBook letting us know “I’m no longer taking up residence on this planet.” …but that he had moved on ’to ‘the Great Mystery Beyond’

The final paragraph read,

“Anyway, I hope there are many fond memories and funny stories you tell when you think of me. In the salient words of the great Memphis musician Jim Dickinson, “I’m not gone. I’m just dead.” I’ve planted enough surreptitious musical mayhem….that you should be able to recognize traces of me here and there. Hope you smile and chuckle a bit.”

I did indeed smile and chuckle when I read this, recalling the track, ‘Shake The Heavens’

To Tim’s chagrin I insisted that his lovable goofing around be preserved in the introductory bars of the final mix.

Last Sunday we joined with family here at Every Nation Church, Belfast. I was greeted at the door by Les, wearing this shirt….

(He told me he’d decided to change into this one at the last minute🙂)

The service opened up with a song with the words

‘There’s joy in the House of the Lord’

I knew Tim was sending us a message…….that he was now having ‘a really fun time’ in the Great Mystery Beyond😀

As I am typing this blog I’m sitting in a coffee shop …….and the song comes on……”I’m knock, knock, knocking on heaven’s door.”🤣

…….I see heaven’s door opening, the angel turns and announces…..

“Relax. The Bass Player is Here.”

Like Nathaniel, Tim was ‘a man without guile’

Jesus told him,

‘You will see heaven opened and the angels ascending and descending on the Son of Man.’

He was referencing ‘Jacob’s ladder’ in Genesis 28.

As we shared the communion meal together at the close of the service on Sunday, I reflected on how the Son of Man, our crucified and risen Lord was himself, ‘Jacob’s ladder’ …….the bridge connecting these two realms of heaven and earth.

Tim now knows this more fully than ever accompanying us from the heavenly realm in the song……..

‘We now, our feet on earth

But hearts with Him in heaven above

He now, by sovereign grace

Is forming us as one in love. ‘

Indeed

Tim is not gone…….He is just dead.

…….and we continue to be connected

…….through the ‘Jacob’s ladder’

…….that is in our hearts.

‘Would The Real St. Patrick Please Stand Up.’ was the title of a play we wrote and performed, first in Kieran’s Irish pub in Downtown Minneapolis, and subsequently in numerous locations in the US, Australia and even back home in Ireland.

It depicted a Patrick far removed from the drunken, brawling Irish ‘Paddy’ characature.

At 3.14 the morning of St. Patrick’s day my phone, which I had forgotten to turn off, ‘pinged’

Believe it or not it was a message from saint Patrick!

Yes, my dear friend Paddy Murphy had sent me this message from deep in the Irish countryside.

‘Happy St Patrick’s Day. May the grace and love of the God he came to tell us of, impact your life afresh today.’

The timing was perfect. It was 3.14 Numerically this is pi. Pi is the 16th letter of the Greek alphabet. It represents God’s infinite and unfailing LOVE reflected in love’s 16 attributes described in 1 Cor.13.

This ‘Paddy’ is a faithful and faith filled Irishman who with his wonderful wife Breda have battled and prayed and worked for years in the face of great personal adversity, as did his namesake, for the salvation of Ireland!

He is indeed a ‘Real’ modern day, living saint Patrick.

……Then all the world witnessed another ‘Would the Real St. Patrick Please Stand Up.’ drama, this week, at The White House!

As in our play it echoed uncannily Patrick’s initial showdown on Tara hill with the dark druidic powers that held sway in Ireland at that time!

As we prepare to return to Ireland for 5 weeks on Tuesday, here is a story from our last trip that maps beautifully on to all of this……

At the end of our trip we took our friends Brian and Lyn to see London/ Derry, Hilary’s birthplace.

From the train we walked straight to the Guildhall. On trying to enter, we were told we would have to stand to the side because a very important person was about to arrive, unannounced.

As we waited, a fleet of limousines pulled up and out stepped the then Irish, Taoiseach (head of government) referred to in the above commentary, Simon Harris.

An orchestrated photo shoot with Harris and the newly appointed (not elected) African Derry City Mayor followed, before they walked within an arms reach of us into the Guildhall.

Brian and Lynn Hilary and myself realized it was the cue for a song, and spontaneously began singing together….

Lord Jesus we enthrone You…..We proclaim you are King of Derry and of Ireland.

A flock of doves in perfect formation then flew over our heads, as if heaven was approving and answering!

The four of us subsequently prayer walked ‘The Walled City’. Then we realized the gate we had started and ended at, was Castle Gate!

We smiled as we sang once again ‘Come Lord Jesus and take your place’ ….realizing we were inviting our ‘servant’ King of the Castle to enter at the most ‘humble’ of the 7 gates.

We sensed the ‘kings of the earth’ , that we had just been brought near to in that place and time, would soon be ousted by Jesus, the true High King of Ireland.

The next morning one of those photos of Simon Harris, posted above, made it onto the front page of the Belfast Telegraph.

It seemed the disarray of the flock of doves captured above Harris, was the contrary sign to the beautifully ordered and peaceful ‘dove’ formation we had been given, as we proclaimed ‘Jesus’ King.

It was no surprise then that shortly thereafter Harris was toppled as Ireland’s ‘head’, and that the corrupt establishment he represented, has now been exposed to the world from America’s White House.

This is indeed the time spoken of by Enoch and Daniel when the “kings of the earth’ will experience tribulation as they are judged and the kingdom of God is delivered into the hands of ‘the saints of the Most High’ (Dan.7;14)

Yes you’re right, the same title as the last blog …….but another song!

In explaining our coming to the USA our most frequently used quote was to do with the Pilgrim Fathers……

‘It was said of them, “Some came for money, some came for land, but they came to pray, and their prayer was, ‘Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on this part of earth and then from this part of earth to the uttermost parts of the earth as it is in heaven.’”

Confirming the message of the last blog, I came across the following interview with Juan O Savin (107) where he talks about our being part of a ‘pilgrim company’ and describes how ‘dreams’ are becoming realities and how this is now beginning to go out from America to other nations.

Our prayer continues that America might lead the way with ‘servant leadership’ characterizing God’s Kingdom, and bearing the fruit of ‘righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Spirit.’

Again going from the global and international to the local and personal , this ‘Dreams Becoming Reality’ was also our experience last weekend.

In our closing circle one mature brother, called to a national ministry on the mountains of education and family, confessed to having his world turned upside down, with the revelation of his Father God with a smiling face, and the realization that ‘relationship precedes function’

A sister said all her life people had said to her they had visions of her with Jesus, but for the first time on the retreat she had an experience of Jesus with her, for herself!

Another young man declared his life was now transformed as he walked free from fear, ‘sealed with God’s love.’

The circle danced with Dad in delight to Joy-shua’s song (linked on the last blog), and ‘spun ecstatically’ as we affirmed our Father’s declaration over us…..

On the day you were born I danced over you

On the day you were born I rejoiced

On the day you were born all heaven proclaimed

“ You’re the child of my love – You’re my choice!” 😀

When I first taught this song about dreams becoming reality, I recall a friend saying “To really enter into it fully will require a seismic shift in the spiritual realm.”

With Kash Patel being confirmed as the next director of the FBI on the heels of Pam Bondi, Bobby Kennedy and Tulsi Gabbard’s appointments, things we could have only ‘dreamed’ about seem to be actually becoming realities.

Could it be that the world of corrupt politicians is being supplanted as we witness four people who are fallible humans but seem to sincerely want to serve others and the nation rather than themselves?

I find Dr Steve Turley’s succinct analyses about the radical shift that is going on in the US and more broadly in the world at large, quite helpful.

In this podcast from 10 minute mark, he talks about an emerging “Aristopopulism” a vertical paradigm that transcends the old horizontal binary of left and right.

It is what in our KINGDOM LIVING teaching series in Community of the King we would have called Servant Leadership.

The community was born in the 70s out of a desire by young people to see an authentically passionate, pure and powerful expression of ‘the kingdom of God.’ as demonstrated on the pages of Acts.

In another interview with Rob Marin, Turley discusses Vice President JD Vance’s recent remarks about Ordo Amoris that again was part of our teaching on God’s priorities in KINGDOM LIVING.

It seems we might have authentic leaders emerging who do not just ‘talk the talk ‘ of a ‘Christian’ name game to garner votes, but who are serious about building a culture that truly expresses the Kingdom of God on earth.

As I reflected on the extraordinary crash of a plane flying from here to Toronto where it was literally ‘turned upside down’ I realized it was prophetic of what is happening in our world today. There were 76 passengers (cleansing) who escaped largely unharmed , each helping the other to get freed from their seat belts to reach safety! They even received a gratuitous $30,000 each from Delta! The flight number 4819 totaled to 22 (sons of light)!

You’ll remember that all (2)76 were saved in another prophetic crash – the ship wreck in Acts 27.

Is Is.49 being fulfilled in our day?

“God also says: “When the time’s ripe, I answer you. When victory’s due, I help you. I form you and use you to reconnect the people with me, To put the land in order, to resettle families on the ruined properties. I tell prisoners, ‘Come on out. You’re free!’ and those huddled in fear, ‘It’s all right. It’s safe now.’ There’ll be foodstands along all the roads, picnics on all the hills— Nobody hungry, nobody thirsty, shade from the sun, shelter from the wind, For the Compassionate One guides them, takes them to the best springs.

Again this speaks of the ‘seismic shift’ we are now witnessing where we will more and more enter into the (humanly) unimaginable ‘upside down’ world to experience the sheer delight of ….’When the Lord brought back the captives out of captivity.”

Next weekend we host another Your Smiling Face encounter. Cultural change is no substitute for, but is downstream from, personal spiritual transformation. Again we will see ‘the good shepherd’ lead ‘harassed and helpless” sheep to The Big Green House to make them lie down in green pasture beside still waters in order to restore their souls.

We hope to help them journey along the road of truth to personal freedom in order that they too might use that freedom in the service of God and their fellow man

This week saw the confirmation of Bobby Kennedy as Secretary of HHS.

I also received an enquiry from a friend who was in a quandary about whether or not to vaccinate his children.

The first time I heard the phrase “Ad Hoc” was when the Presbyterian Church in Ireland appointed an “Ad Hoc committee on Special Fellowships.” of which our ‘Youth Fellowship” in Gilnahirk Presbyterian church was deemed to be one.

The outpouring of the Holy Spirit known as the charismatic movement’ in the 60’s and 70s had given rise to phenomena unfamiliar to Irish Presbyterianism such as the raising of hands in praise, praying for the sick, and street ‘witnessing’ about Jesus.

Arthur Blessit, who died just a few weeks ago, had come to town carrying his big cross and creating quite a stir

‘It might be in the Bible but it is not in the Presbyterian Blue Book’

This was the concern of our local elders as they were charged to meet with us and get to the bottom of this awkward turn of events that was threatening the ‘status quo’

Subsequently our fellowship was ‘put out’ of the Presbyterian church.

10 years later the Presbyterian church in Ireland called an extraordinary assembly to assess the ‘spiritual condition’ of the church. They concluded that the very things we had been expelled for 10 years previously were in fact what the church needed!

Such is the role of a prophetic people.

The phrase “Ad Hoc’ came to me again the other night when Father gave me the title for this blog.

It is a Latin term that simply means, ‘for this’

It stands over and against that which is ‘in general.’

I recalled having written a song once (I can’t remember much of it now except for the opening phrase …..

“For this, we were created……..”

I understand now the truth contained in the Presbyterian catechism I learned as a boy is to know, not just academically but in an ongoing experiential way what it means ‘to glorify God and enjoy Him for ever.”

This is God’s purpose in the outpouring of the Spirit.

The kingdom of God is…… righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Spirit’ (Rm.14:17)

This ‘kingdom’ is the little boy pictured above, captured by the Holy Spirit as he watches Ben sing at ‘the cocktail hour’ at the wedding last weekend.

‘Hallelujah! Hallelujah!, Hallelujah!………..”

‘Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! had rung out at the church from somewhere behind and above. It was from Ben’s. MASSA DEUX liturgy.

The buzz of conversation had dissipated. A holy hush had descended. All sat still in ‘the presence’

The bride was delayed, but time seemed to stand still as all remained silent in the ‘for this’

It eventually came my turn to pick up my guitar at the front to lead the responsorial psalm.

I fumbling began to play and sing. Faltering further I just stopped!

‘I’m sorry’ I said “My mind is still filled with Ben’s Hallelujah! I’m going to have to put the guitar down. Let’s just speak the psalm together.”

At the reception a lady sidled up to me.”Sometimes you just have to punt.” She muttered kindly before fading back into the crowd.

But that punt had made way for what others described as a perfect entering together into ‘the kingdom……..in the Holy Spirit.”

Whether by forced humiliation or chosen humility it is only the children who can enter.

Ben had picked up his guitar and the same Spirit that had fallen in the ‘Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church’ fell again at the ‘cocktail hour’ as he strummed and sang out Leonard Cohen’s ‘secular’ anthem.

Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah!

A reminder again that ‘for this’ is not limited to any ‘general’ category be it a place a time or a form

……..for I AM who I AM

And we are all invited to participate in the marriage supper of the lamb as part of His ‘Ad Hoc committee of special fellowship’

What a Day we live in! A turning point indeed for America and the whole world.

As those of you who know us are aware over the years we have found the ‘little picture’ of our personal life experiences often intersects with the ‘big picture’

Last weekend it happened again!

Let me share it with you for your encouragement.

32 years ago, the year before our whole family moved to America, I was invited to a small gathering of brothers in Estes Park Colorado.

One afternoon finding myself alone in the cabin, I picked up the guitar and was given the song, The Heaven’s Declare. (An all time favorite but as yet unrecorded song, it is after all these years planned for the album Ben is currently working on, The Whole of Creation.)

Last weekend we were invited back to Estes Park again, this time to participate in the wedding of one of our spiritual daughters who had lived as part of our family in The Big Green House for four years.

32 is the number of God’s covenant love….into which we are invited as a married couple.

I became aware when we were there that this was yet another Victory Lap.

You’ll remember the song I was given to sing on each Lap was On The Day You Were Born better known as The Freedom song.

I was to sing it not just for the individuals but for the nations. It is based appropriately on Zephaniah 3:17 (17 for victory and the initial 3 laps)

Having last year completed one Victory Lap east in this nation then one to an eastern nation then a third to a western nation, this completed a 4fold assignment, by going west in this nation to another state we had visited many times in the past.

The bride and groom had requested we have ‘a prayer meeting’ for those who wanted and had arrived the day before the wedding.

I opened up that morning with Good Mornin Dad and as you can see above, Dad showed off his ‘smiling face’ in the sky overhead.

I sang the song as from Father to the 25 gathered….

‘On the day YOU were born I danced over you….you’re the child of my love,……you’re my choice.’

Many in the room had never met before, and so we then went around the circle and so each person was named as they received the truth of Father’s word to them from everyone else.

We came to the bride and groom and all sang….

‘Vincent you’re the child of my love you’re my choice…….Nicole the child of my love you’re my choice.’

When you ‘marry’ these two names, you get……

The Victorious Victory of The People.

I realized this was a proclamation for the nation of America.

This same weekend Donald Trump has been inaugurated as President of this nation. He has committed to see power taken out of the hands of the ‘kings of the earth’ and returned ‘to the people’.

This was the heart of Jesus message in ‘the sermon on the mount,’

……that true (kingdom) power and victory do not lie without, but within each person as they surrender to and become disciples of the one true King of Heaven and Earth.

At Denver airport as I walked through the gate for the return flight, the airline attendant called me back.

‘Sir! Be prepared for me to check that guitar….It’s a very full flight!‘ she warned.

As I made my way down the aisle I noticed there was one overhead compartment large enough to hold my guitar that was still available. I hoisted the guitar, which had accompanied our proclamation over America, into its ‘grace space.’

….and then noticed the bin number.

.…..and then the letters

……The Banksters defeated.

‘The one enthroned in heaven LAUGHS…..I have set my King on my holy hill’(Ps.24,6)

“Freedom! Freedom!

Let all creation sing.

As we take the hand of our Father

As we take the hand of our King.”
